Negotiating an offer without burning the bridge
Negotiation is a collaboration about terms, not a contest. A structure for asking for more while staying someone they want to hire.

Separate the decision from the number
Say clearly that you want the role before you discuss terms. Companies negotiate more generously with people they believe will accept, and you negotiate more clearly when the decision is no longer in play.
Anchor on evidence
Bring a range grounded in data for the role, level, and location, and explain where it comes from. A number without a rationale sounds like a wish; a number with one sounds like a fact.
Negotiate the package, not just salary
Start date, equity, signing bonus, title, scope, review timing, and learning budget are all negotiable, and some are easier for the company to move than base pay.
Practice the moment you'll get nervous
Most people know what to say and freeze when they hear "that's above our band." Rehearse exactly that reply in a Coachare salary negotiation simulation until the response is automatic.
Put it into practice
